Ecmtitanium161crack107 Titanium alloys Category: Titanium alloysDespite being known for its extreme architectural style, urban sprawl and push to develop land in city outskirts and into the surrounding wilderness, Canada is experiencing a period of “greening.” According to the Sierra Club Canada, “Greening can be defined as any activity undertaken to protect, conserve and enhance the natural environment, and any environmental policy or law, program or strategy adopted to support greening.” Greening, which is the result of policies by the federal and provincial governments, is beginning to take form in the landscapes of cities across Canada. The transformation of the landscape can be attributed to the growing awareness of the impacts of climate change, the population’s desire to live in places that are more enjoyable to look at and experience, and the government’s desire to beautify the land while also protecting it. The Canadian government is a big player in the greening of the nation. It funds research into ways to help protect the environment, and it is a leader in the international community in the area of climate change. The Canadian federal government allocated $110 million to support the development of more efficient and sustainable products in the automobile industry in 2007. In the 2008 budget, the federal government allocated an additional $150 million for a carbon capture and storage project. The department of energy’s “Clean Car Program” plans to add an additional $5 billion to support the automotive industry over the next five years. Yet, while the federal government makes the strong statement that it supports greening, it also has plans to open up more land to development. The 2008 budget introduced new policies that will make it possible to build homes on larger areas of land. For example, the new policy will allow a home to be built on the 10-hectare site of the old Ferrovial Canada coal mine. This news was met with some concern by environmental groups that fear the government’s push to open up more land for development will be used as a front to increase urban sprawl. In the last decade, the federal government has been pushing to have land outside the city limits become urbanized. Despite the federal government’s greening efforts, there is growing evidence to suggest that Canada is facing a new urban sprawl and that the land outside the city limits will continue to urbanize. An interesting project that is being conducted in downtown Edmonton is part of the push to have new urban sprawl. The . Cite This Source. ECM Titanium TiAl Alloy - Properties. [In Preprint].
